About the Skooled Zone

The Skooled Zone is my all-in-one YouTube gaming channel that gives you tips, tricks, walkthroughs, and educational factoids about the gaming environment as we play the game together. In fact, it's the educational factoids that are the highlight of the channel and what sets it apart from all the other gaming channels on YouTube. Whenever I stumble on something interesting during one of the longplays, I'll stop to give you some quick trivia about it.

There are so many things that gamers breeze past in video games that actually offer teachable moments. We'll go into detail when we get to those opportunities and maybe you'll get just that much smarter. And with some wicked gaming skills and a dash of humor, you're sure to enjoy a daily dose of edutainment. Video game-based contextual learning you could say. In addition to verbally giving factoids about things that arise in the game, I'll also be adding factoid pop-ups in post to round out the whole experience.

About Me

My name is Paul, and I'm the founder and host of the Skooled Zone. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.A. in Psychology, minoring in creative writing and philosophy. I then completed the post-baccalaureate program in Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder, specializing in communications, creative writing, and cinematography. I decided not to go into teaching just yet and moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in film. I started out acting for a bit and doing martial arts stunt work, but my real interest was in screenwriting. So I went back to school yet again, this time at UCLA, and graduated from their Professional Screenwriting Program. I started writing, directing, and producing some short films and documentaries. All the while, I ran my own graphic and web design business to stay afloat.

Raising money for films, even video shorts, is challenging. But YouTube came along and changed the game. Through YouTube, I found a way to combine my love of making videos with my passion for video games. Along with my background in education and graphic design, I was able to blend all my talents into the Skooled Zone.

YouTube isn't merely a video posting platform. It's a way to reach amazing people that share your hobbies and interests. It's also a fantastic platform for building knowledge and a sense of community. I learned much of this after graduating from YouTube's Creator Academy Build Your Channel Learning Camp. I hope to carve out my little niche on YouTube and make learning as cool and engaging as it can possibly be!

I also created a little "Origin Story" video if you're interested in hearing more. Thanks for stopping by this little corner of the web!
